Healthy Breast Tip: Eat cruciferous vegetables every day!

You might be wondering what a cruciferous vegetable is– well lucky for you I’m going to teach you.

Cruciferous vegetables are in the cabbage family and have excellent breast cancer fighting properties. Research suggests that they contain a kind of phytochemical known as isothiocyanates, which stimulate our bodies to break down potential carcinogens. They work by preventing the transformation of normal healthy cells into cancerous cells.  Another cancer fighting compound found in cruciferous vegetables is indoles.  Indoles  helps detoxify enzymes and stops breast cancer cell growth.  These vegetables also make the estrogen receptors in breast cells less responsive to estrogen.  The slower breast cells divide the lower your risk of breast cancer!

A review of research published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association showed that 70% of the studies found a link between cruciferous vegetables and protection against cancer.

These Cancer fighting properties are pretty amazing.  It’s important to add some of these vegetables in your meals!

Next post I will be sharing a list of Cruciferous Vegetables you can use when you go grocery shopping!
