As I mentioned in my post, Healthy Breast Tip: Garlic!, garlic has many wonderful healing properties.
Today I’m going to break down the 3 most influential for your health:
 
  • Allicin: Allicin is a powerful sulfur plant compound that is antibiotic and anti-fungal. This substance is only created when you chop or cut garlic. (When you cut garlic the enzyme allinase is released and converts the original allin to allicin)  Allin does not have any health benefits until it becomes allicin.
  • Flavonoids: Flavonoids are aromatic plant compounds that are considered to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Antioxidants protect your body from oxygen free radical damage that can lead to cancer.
  • Selenium: Research shows that this plant chemical may be anti-mutagens ( meaning a substance that can prevent cancer by blocking damage to cells DNA or stimulating the body to repair damaged DNA.)  It also stimulates the production of glutathione (one of your body’s natural antioxidants.)
