Prevention is the key to a Breast Cancer free life.

It is important to balance a healthy lifestyle with healthy choices.  According to the American Cancer Society, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes.

The best thing about prevention- we are in control!  There are many things you can do to prevent yourself from becoming a statistic.

In the next few weeks I will be giving tips on easy things you can add to your diet.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Adding this fat into your diet greatly reduces your risk of Breast Cancer.

Unfortunately  it’s been a popular trend in the US to consume ‘fat free’ foods.  Because of this fad many women are scared to incorporate any fats into their diet.

The truth is our bodies need fat to function properly!

Every cell in our body has a membrane that is primarily composed of fat. Without proper amounts of fat in our diet our cells are unable to function properly.  Also, all nerve cells in in our body, including those in the brain, are coated with fat.  It is this fat that allows electrical impulses to travel through nerve cells.

Omega-3 fatty acids are the most health promoting type of fat you can eat.  They reduce your risk of heart disease, inflammatory conditions, and several types of cancer (including breast cancer!)

Our body cannot make these fatty acids and must obtain them from food sources or from supplements.

Stay tuned to learn exactly how Omega-3 Fatty Acids can help Breast Cancer Prevention and how to incorporate them into your daily diet.
