He is also the author and creator of hubND.org, a membership based website for health practitioners interested in optimizing patient outcomes.
Personal Note from Jake
“After graduating from naturopathic medical school I started getting inquires from a concerned relative about how I would approach breast cancer screening and breast cancer prevention as a naturopathic doctor. I had lost an aunt to breast cancer, so I took these questions seriously. I knew I needed to better understand the current research so I dived into the literature. The research and statistics were so captivating that I couldn’t help but pull 3 all nighters that week.
The more I uncovered the more I knew that I wanted to share this information with women. Over the next year or so I continued to spend a large amount of my time and continuing medical education credits (which are required to maintain a license) on the subject of breast cancer.
What came of all this was something I did not expect. In short, I was dismayed by breast cancer screening programs acting as a one-size-fits-all. I knew more could be done for women and that an individualized, comprehensive approach would be best. So I created a unique risk assessment questionnaire that goes beyond the conventional risk assessment models. I did this because most models today only take into account a few data points. I’ve endeavored to take into account as many important data points as possible.
My goal is to empower women to understand their current breast health and to equip them with simple but effective screening and treatment strategies to move towards optimal breast health.”
